Filmmaker Bonnie Hawthorne (Dreaming of a Vetter World) To Speak
Friday May 31, 3:30 pm, Mahaiwe Theatre

Great Barrington, MA, May 31, 2019. The Berkshire International Film festival will be highlighting organic farming films with a panel discussion at the Mahaiwe Theatre titled Rethinking Ag. The panel’s main speaker, Bonnie Hawthorne, is the director of Dreaming of a Vetter World. Hawthorne’s film will show at 9:00 am at the Mahaiwe. Later in the day Hawthorne will speak at the Rethinking Ag discussion.

The Biggest Little Farm and Dreaming of a Vetter World are environmental advocacy documentaries highlighting the importance of sustainable and organic farming methods, the importance of soil, and how to farm in a manner regenerates soil. The stories follow the lives and struggles of farmers and illustrate the successes and challenges of small scale organic farming.

The discussion will directly follow the showing of The Biggest Little Farm.  Included on the panel will be Berkshire’ Grown’s executive director Margaret Moulton and local Berkshire farmers Jen Salinetti, Sean Stanton, and Will Conklin with Bobby Houston as moderator. The panel will discuss issues of particular concern such as the overuse of pesticides as related to climate change and the destruction of soil.
